Executive Summary Methane and carbon dioxide (CO2) are greenhouse gases (GHG), whose presence in the atmosphere contributes to warming and climate change in this city. The high rate of GHG emission is thought to be an important factor for the unwanted change in agro-climatic attributes of the city that resulted in considerable size of population to be food self-insufficient. Hence, the objective of the project is aimed at: conversion of the domestic waste to organic soil amendment products that can replace manufactured fertilizers and/or peat through composting; reduction of methane emission from the opened landfill; and income generation for the unemployed youth. Creating awareness, capacity building, procurement of basic hand tools, constriction of compost pit and store and transporting decomposable solid waste will be the key project activities. The total project cost is estimated to be 66,417.53 USD
